Summary of the data we collect

1. Who we are

FindWatch is a trade name of Bensys LLC, which is responsible for your personal data.

2. Data we collect and why

• Account information: email address, account ID, preferences and account dates. We use it to create and secure your account and provide account features.
• Watch photos: photos you submit for identification, visual search or the visualizer. We use them only to perform the feature you request. We remove photo metadata, including location data, in your browser before upload.
• Identification data: a one-way hash of the photo, the result, confidence and authenticity notes, and timing and error details. We use it to return saved answers, check accuracy and improve the watch catalogue.
• Feedback: whether a result was right and any correction you choose. We use it to improve results.
• Usage and credits: plan, subscription status, limits, credits used and API usage. We use it to run plans, apply limits and prevent abuse.
• Payments: subscription and customer IDs, product, billing period and checkout status. You enter card details with our payment provider. We never receive full card numbers.
• Analytics: pages viewed, referring page, country, screen size, device and browser, feature activity, price searches and outbound-link clicks. We use it to understand and improve the site.
• Consent, support and security: your consent choices, support messages, email-delivery status, a hashed network address, rate-limit counts, errors and short AI audit records. We use these to honor your choices, answer you, deliver email and keep the service secure.

3. Legal bases (EU and UK)

• Contract: providing your account, identifications, visualizer, price search, plans, payments and support.
• Legitimate interests: security, fraud and abuse prevention, saved-answer reuse, accuracy checks, catalogue improvement and affiliate referral measurement.
• Consent: analytics cookies and AI processing of your photos. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legal obligation: tax, accounting and payment records, and responding to legal requests.

4. Photos

• FindWatch does not store identification or visualizer source photos on our servers or databases. Photos are held in temporary memory solely to perform the requested feature.
• We compute a one-way cryptographic fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) of the image. This hash cannot reconstruct your photo; we use it strictly to return cached results within 24 hours and record audit history.
• To identify your watch and generate visualizer scenes, watch photos are transmitted via encrypted HTTPS to Google (Gemini and Google Cloud Vision) for processing under Google's API terms.
• Generated visualizer images are deleted within 8 days (our daily cleanup job prunes files older than 7 days).
• We do not use photos for facial recognition or to identify people. We remove photo metadata, including location data, in your browser before upload. Please do not upload photos that show faces or personal documents.
• Public watch pages may be created or updated from identifications. They show watch information only, never your photo or identity.

5. Automated processing

Identifications, authenticity notes and price estimates are produced by AI and are for information only. They have no legal or similarly significant effects on you.

AI-generated images carry a visible watermark or an embedded machine-readable AI label.

6. Retention

When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your sign-in and account data within 30 days. We delete or remove your account ID from identification, credit and usage records at the same time. Analytics and click records are not linked to your account. Support messages are kept for up to 2 years. We keep only records we must keep for legal, tax or fraud-prevention reasons. Our payment provider keeps its own payment records under its own policy.

AI audit records and consent records are kept as long as needed to demonstrate compliance and resolve disputes.

Deleted data is removed from backups within 30 days.

7. Service providers

We share data only as needed with providers that help us run FindWatch:

• AI processing: Google, including Gemini and Google Cloud Vision, receives watch photos and text queries to analyze dials and generate visualizer images under Google's API terms.
• Web data and reference search: Perplexity and Firecrawl receive text search queries and reference numbers to locate public watch specifications and dealer pricing.
• Hosting and infrastructure: site hosting, sign-in, database, file storage, email and content delivery.
• Payments: Polar processes checkout as merchant of record and uses Stripe to process payments.
• Analytics: Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
• Security: bot checks and country lookup from a network address to apply consent rules.

8. Analytics and cookies

Microsoft Clarity runs without cookies and records session interactions, such as clicks, scrolls and page activity, to show how pages are used. Google Analytics uses cookies and measures page views. Read the Google Privacy Policy and the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Visitors in the EU and UK are asked before analytics loads. Everyone can turn analytics off at any time with Your Privacy Choices in the footer. We treat Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control as an opt-out. Your choice is saved in your browser, so set it again on each browser or device.

9. Affiliate links and advertising

We do not use third-party ad networks. Links and banners labeled Sponsored are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission on qualifying purchases. Our affiliate partners include the eBay Partner Network, WatchWarehouse, Watches of USA, and other retailers through the Rakuten and Awin affiliate networks.

When you click an affiliate link, the retailer or affiliate network may set cookies on its own site to credit the purchase to FindWatch. Their privacy policies apply. We record the destination and watch context of clicks to measure referrals. The Do Not Sell or Share choice turns off analytics on FindWatch. It does not control cookies a retailer sets after you leave our site.

10. Sale and sharing

We do not sell personal information for money. Some US state laws treat analytics cookies as "sharing." You can opt out through Your Privacy Choices as described in section 8.

11. Emails

We send account emails (such as sign-up confirmation and password reset) and service emails (such as a welcome email, trial reminder, purchase confirmations and support replies), which may mention our plans. We do not send newsletters or promotions. The unsubscribe link in service emails stops service emails only; account emails and payment receipts from our payment provider are not affected.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, including California and other US states, the EU and the UK, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, to object to or restrict processing, to opt out of sale or sharing, and to withdraw consent. You can withdraw AI-processing consent in Account settings or with the button below, whether or not you have an account.

No AI consent is stored in this browser.

To make a request, including account deletion, email info@findwatch.org from the address on your account with "Privacy Request" in the subject. We verify your identity before acting, which may mean confirming control of that email address.

We respond within one month, and may extend this where the law allows.

You may complain to a data-protection authority.

We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

13. International processing

Data is processed in the United States. For EU and UK data, we rely on our service providers' Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards where required.

14. Children

FindWatch is not directed to children under 16. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 16, we delete it promptly. Contact info@findwatch.org if you believe this has happened.

15. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards to protect your data. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

16. Changes

We post updates on this page with a new effective date. For material changes, we notify account holders by email or a notice on the site.
